The system
Each is hard on its own. Solving them together — in something that has to run unattended, survive heat and dust, tolerate unreliable power, and cost little enough to deploy at scale — is the work.
Picking a mosquito out of everything else moving through a field at dusk, when the mosquitoes are most active and the light is worst.
Acting on a target fast enough that it can't escape, without the air-current warning that lets a mosquito ride out a swat.
Eye-safe by design, around people and livestock. No fire risk, no corneal or retinal damage, no burns — the constraint every other decision is built around.

Why this matters
Malaria, dengue, yellow fever, and Zika cause preventable death and life-disrupting illness across sub-Saharan Africa, South and Southeast Asia, and Latin America, and hit young children hardest. Insecticide-treated nets and indoor spraying have saved millions of lives, but their gains have stalled against insecticide resistance and vectors that bite outdoors and early in the evening. Anophelyze was founded in 2026, after several years of preparation, out of a need for environmentally neutral approaches that work where those tools don't.
